About the Class

Fully booked! World Culture, Cooking and Art Camp Dates: February 20-23 2024 Embark on a journey around the world with our " World Culture, Cooking and Art Camp." Designed for curious and creative minds, this camp offers a unique blend of cultural education and artistic expression for K-5th grade students. Each day, campers will immerse themselves in the traditions, arts, and foods of different countries, fostering a greater understanding and appreciation of global diversity. Incorporating food items into the camp adds an element of fun and also provides a taste of each culture. We are a nut-free facility. No shellfish or fish will be used for snacks. Daily Structure: Morning Sessions: Hands-On Cultural Learning and Cooking Midday: Picnic and Field Games at Littlejohn Park Afternoon Sessions: Artistic Expression and Social-Emotional Learning Day 1: Chinese Cultural Adventure • Together, we’ll learn to make Chinese style spring rolls • Craft dancing dragons and lanterns, and delve into the moral of "The Empty Pot." Day 2: Russian Folk Art Exploration • Russian blinis with sour cream and jam • Create Russian Matryoshka dolls and engage in traditional folk games. Day 3: African Cultural Safari • Create fruit kebabs using a selection of fruits like pineapple, mango, and bananas to reflect the tropical fruits of Africa. • Make African masks and huts, and learn African dance moves. Day 4: Indian Cultural Immersion • Mango Lassi is a refreshing Indian yogurt-based drink. • Explore Indian art with lotus flower sand paintings and mindful movement. Details & Logistics: • Age Group: 5-10 years. • Drop Off: 8:45–9:00am | Pick Up: 4:00pm | Extended Hours: 8:30am–5:30pm. • Lunch: Bring a labeled water bottle, one hearty snack, and a nut-free lunch. • Attire: Comfortable, movement-friendly clothing. Note: We’re a "no-shoes" facility, recommend trampoline socks. • Belongings: Leave toys and personal items at home or in the lobby cubbies. Tuition & Rates: Members - please use code "Member75" for a discount. • 4-Day Package: $495 • 4-Day with Extended Care (8:30-5:30): $595 • Note: No refunds on camp tuition within 45 days of the start of camp.
