About the Class

World Culture, Cooking and Art Camp Dates: July 15-19 2024 This camp offers a blend of cultural education and artistic expression for K-5th grade students. Campers will immerse themselves in the traditions, arts, and foods of different countries, fostering a greater understanding and appreciation of global diversity. We are a nut-free facility. No shellfish, fish, pork or nuts will be used for snacks. Daily Structure: Morning Sessions: Hands-On Cultural Learning and Cooking Midday: Picnic and Field Games at Littlejohn Park Afternoon Sessions: Artistic Expression and Social-Emotional Learning Camp Highlights: Day 1: Chinese Cultural Adventure: Together, we’ll learn to make Chinese style spring rolls. Craft dancing dragons and lanterns, and delve into the moral of "The Empty Pot." Day 2: Russian Folk Art Exploration: Russian blinis with sour cream and jam. Create Russian Matryoshka dolls and engage in traditional folk games. Day 3: African Cultural Safari: Create fruit kebabs using a selection of fruits like pineapple, mango, and bananas to reflect the tropical fruits of Africa. Make African masks and huts, and learn African dance moves. Day 4: Australian Outback and Art: Vegemite sandwiches: Vegemite is a famous Australian spread. Experience Aboriginal dot painting and create boomerangs. Day 5: Indian Cultural Immersion: Mango Lassi is a refreshing Indian yogurt-based drink. Explore Indian art with lotus flower sand paintings and mindful movement. Join us for a unique blend of cultural exploration, artistic creativity, and fun outdoor activities. This camp is a gateway to the world, offering a holistic experience that stimulates both intellectual growth and physical well-being! Details & Logistics: • Age Group: 5-10 years. • Drop Off: 8:45–9:00am | Pick Up: 4:00pm | Extended Hours: 8:30am–5:30pm. • Lunch: Bring a labeled water bottle, one hearty snack, and a nut-free lunch. • Attire: Comfortable, movement-friendly clothing. Note: We’re a "no-shoes" facility, recommend trampoline socks. • Belongings: Leave toys and personal items at home or in the lobby cubbies. Cancellation requests made 45 days+ from camp start incur a $50 cancellation fee, and 3% payment processing cost. •Please use code “Siblings10” for a 10% discount on the 2nd child.
