About the Class
About the Class: While the Bay Area is a hub of culture, innovation, and community, the importance of personal safety cannot be overstated. Our Martial Arts & Self-Defense class is designed keeping in mind the distinctive needs of the Bay Area's young residents. This program focuses on practical self-defense techniques that elementary aged kids can use immediately. Our instructor is a black belt in Aikido, and infuses lessons about appropriate use of self-defense techniques, peacemaking, running away - and also how to get away when an adult is trying to pull or grab the child. In our one hour class, students will: *Learn basic stances, forms, and breathing techniques tailored for real-world situations. *Enhance self-awareness, helping them navigate the vibrant yet busy streets and parks safely. *Participate in a safe, positive, and encouraging environment that champions peacemaking. Inclusive Access: To ensure that all children have the chance to enjoy our enriching programs, regardless of their family's financial situation, we offer an Inclusive Access Class Pack at a discounted rate. This is a "come as you are" class - no uniforms needed. Please wear comfortable clothing. About the Instructor: Ozer Ozturk brings a rich Aikido background , crowned with a prestigious 1st Dan rank from the Aikikai Foundation in Japan. He has a knack for designing classes that cater specifically to children, ensuring they are engaging, informative, and relevant.
