About the Class

The Village Kids’ Club and Alameda Bricks 4 Kidz are collaborating on a special class series: LEGO Robot Creators - a STEM and Robotics Journey! The series of 6 classes are held on Thursdays from 5:15-6:15, starting April 18 through May 23rd. Session 2, April 25: Motorized LEGO Ping Pong Popper - Ping Pong is the nickname that was given to the sport of table tennis. Players need to have good hand-eye coordination to excel at this game. Children will test their skills at grabbing the ball after the Ping Pong Popper model pops it up. Can you grab it before gravity pulls it down? Is your ping pong popper machine strong enough to knock down a stack of cups? Let’s find out! More About the Course: Kids 1st-5th grade will build and operate a different robot in each class. They get a super-fun, crash course in robotics, and we break down complex STEM concepts into hands-on lessons. Students use LEGO Bricks to build models and bring them to life with gears and motors while learning teamwork and communication skills. LEGO robotics programs improve kids' ability to apply scientific ideas to real-life projects and create tangible results. It's also a load of fun, helping kids to connect science to positive experiences! Alameda Bricks for Kidz is owned and operated by Stacey Foley, who also serves as an educator at Otis Elementary, directing the STEAM Lab and crafting curriculum for over 600 K-5 students weekly. Details and Logistics: The LEGO Robotics Class Pack is $125 for 6 classes - once you purchase the class pack, you can book your child in all of the sessions. The classes are available on a drop-in basis as well. This course is included in the VKC membership - please note that no-shows and cancellations less than 3 days in advance will incur a $15 fee - we expect these classes to be full. We offer inclusive access pricing for drop-in classes to ensure that more children can enjoy our enriching programs, regardless of their family's financial situation.
