About the Class
The Village Kids’ Club and Alameda Bricks 4 Kidz are collaborating on a special class series: LEGO Robot Creators - a STEM and Robotics Journey! The series of 6 classes are held on Thursdays from 5:15-6:15, starting April 18 through May 23rd. Session 4, May 9: Motorized LEGO Personal Fan - Find out why a fan makes you feel cooler and build your own personal fan out of LEGO® Bricks. Understand the engineering principles of making a simple machine actually work! This lesson covers some of the science related to air temperature, as well as interesting facts about the human body and how we cool and warm ourselves as “warm blooded” animals. Students will learn about the dangers of overheating and some interesting ways to cool down. More About the Course: Kids 1st-5th grade will build and operate a different robot in each class. They get a super-fun, crash course in robotics, and we break down complex STEM concepts into hands-on lessons. Students use LEGO Bricks to build models and bring them to life with gears and motors while learning teamwork and communication skills. LEGO robotics programs improve kids' ability to apply scientific ideas to real-life projects and create tangible results. It's also a load of fun, helping kids to connect science to positive experiences! Alameda Bricks for Kidz is owned and operated by Stacey Foley, who also serves as an educator at Otis Elementary, directing the STEAM Lab and crafting curriculum for over 600 K-5 students weekly. Details and Logistics: The LEGO Robotics Class Pack is $125 for 6 classes - once you purchase the class pack, you can book your child in all of the sessions. The classes are available on a drop-in basis as well. This course is included in the VKC membership - please note that no-shows and cancellations less than 3 days in advance will incur a $15 fee - we expect these classes to be full. We offer inclusive access pricing for drop-in classes to ensure that more children can enjoy our enriching programs, regardless of their family's financial situation.
